About the Author

Helen Knight

Helen grew up in Youlgrave in the Peak District. She has a Degree in Psychology from Nottingham University and a PGCE.

She initially taught at a primary school in a Nottinghamshire mining village then in Havering and Northamptonshire, always driven by her passion for early years teaching and language development. She later specialised as a part-time Special Educational Needs Coordinator in 3 primary schools in East Anglia.

After rescuing an injured bat in her garden and organising bat mitigation measures during a house renovation, she began volunteering for the Bat Conservation Trust on its Bat Care Helpline service, experiences from which inspired her to write this book as an entertaining means to promote a better understanding of bats and encourage reading.

She has now retired and is again living in Youlgrave, still volunteering for the BCT.
